All students are guaranteed housing for all four years, as long as the student applies for housing prior to the deadline.
All Shenandoah students are required to live on campus throughout their first two years at the university.
Housing Applications for First-Year Students
New students are encouraged to apply for housing between March 18 – June 9.
For more information, visit the important housing dates page. If you have any additional questions, you can contact us via email at reslife@nenkin-guide.com
Shenandoah University requires all First-Year students to live on campus. In order to secure housing for the upcoming year, you will need to complete the online application through the myHousing Portal.
Before logging into the portal for the first time, you must set up your Shenandoah University student credentials. Please contact Admissions at admit@nenkin-guide.com. Once you have set up your SU student credentials, return to the home screen of the myHousing Portal.

All students seeking university housing must fill out a housing application. Once you have selected the “Housing Application,” please fill out all information and remember to save and continue at the end of each page.
Residence Life cannot guarantee that all residence hall preferences will be met.
All communication about the housing process, information sessions, and housing status will be sent through Shenandoah University’s Residence Life email.
Select a Roommate
If you know who you want to room with, you must request that person to your group. By accepting an invitation, you are automatically assigned/given preference to that student. DO NOT accept an invitation if you are not confident in rooming with that student. You have the ability to add multiple people to your group, but preference will be given in the order that those individuals accept your invitation. Roommate requests must be mutual. Unanswered or declined roommate requests will not result in roommate pairings.
Match with a Roommate
Roommate matches are determined based on your answers to the Roommate Matching Questions. You can view your suggested roommates by clicking “Suggested Roommates.” Your Suggested Roommates are students who answered questions similarly to you. If you are interested in reaching out to your suggested roommates, you can send them a message by clicking “Send Message”. This communication will appear in the upper right corner of your screen. Request the suggested roommates you would most like to room with into your Roommate Group.
Be Paired with a Roommate
If a student does not have a confirmed Roommate Group by July, they will be assigned to a room with a student of similar preferences as indicated by your Roommate Matching Questions.

You can log onto the myHousing Portal using your Shenandoah username and password. The housing application will only work on a desktop or laptop computer, not on a mobile device.
All students seeking university housing must fill out a housing application and make a $131 deposit. Room selection times are NOT assigned on a first come first serve basis. All students that have submitted their housing deposit and Applied for housing by the deadline noted in the important housing dates will be assigned a random number for the room selection process.
Students who do not pay their deposit or submit their application will not participate in Room Selection. Instead, they will be assigned to the remaining spaces available.
Roommate requests must be confirmed by both students. Unanswered or declined requests will not result in roommate pairings.
If you apply for housing before the housing application deadline, you will receive an email notification with your room selection time slot and room selection instructions.
The Village Apartments are four-bedroom apartments open to junior and senior students. Priority is given to seniors and groups of four applying to fill an entire apartment. Students are selected based on an application, a minimum GPA 2.5, conduct history, and faculty/staff recommendation letters. All four residents must meet the application requirements to live in the apartment. The Village residents are selected to be mentors and positive role models for other Shenandoah students.
Applications are anonymized and reviewed by a committee.
Priority for Solenberger housing is given to current graduate students. If you are a senior applying for graduate programs at Shenandoah you will not be eligible until you are accepted into your graduate program. Once you have been accepted, you will need to email Residence Life your letter and we will provide you access to the graduate housing application at that time.
Single Room Selection Process
Shenandoah has a limited number of single rooms available for an additional fee per semester. Single rooms are located in rooms without a kitchen in the unit, so you will be required to select 10, 15, or 19 meal plan. Indicating your interest in a single room on your housing application is not a guarantee your request will be granted. After approved medical singles have had an opportunity to select a room, each classification, beginning with current graduate students and ending with current first-year students, will be given a day to select their room. These rooms will be distributed first come, first served. Please note: A more limited amount of single rooms will be available across campus, as portions of Vaden Campus Commons will be converted to double rooms beginning in the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Approved medical single residents are the only residents guaranteed a single room.
Double Room Selection Process
Room selection times are not assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. All students who submit their housing application by the deadline stated above are considered to be on time and will be assigned a random time for their room selection. The room selection time you are given is when you are eligible to log into your Housing Portal and select your room. You are also able to select a room after your room selection time, should you miss your assigned time. If you are part of a roommate group, either roommate in the group can reserve for both roommates.
